Policies & Procedures

Purpose of School

The purpose of EXCEL School of Real Estate is to:

  • Present courses of instruction that provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to act as real estate brokers and to satisfy the requirements for obtaining and maintaining a North Carolina real estate license.
  • Prepare Prelicensing students for the applicable North Carolina real estate licensing examinations and for licensure as a real estate Provisional Broker.
  • Offer Post-Licensing courses required for Provisional Brokers to remove the “provisional” status from their license.

  

Course Descriptions

Onsite Courses / Virtual Classroom / Synchronous Distance Education
Course materials are provided digitally. Students will receive access to the required student manuals and instructional materials as determined by the specific course.

  

Registration Requirements & School Policies

Eligibility

The minimum age requirement to obtain a real estate license in North Carolina is 18 years old. Each student is required to acknowledge receipt of these policies prior to purchase. This agreement is required by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission (NCREC) and outlines the rights and obligations of both the School and the student.

Communication

For privacy and security reasons, EXCEL School of Real Estatestaff and customer service representatives may communicate only with the student of record regarding account matters.

  

Tuition and Fees

EXCEL School of Real Estate accepts checks and major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). Full tuition payment is due at the time of registration and prior to the start of the course. Tuition includes digital course materials as specified for each course.

Continuing Education Courses

  • Live Onsite and Synchronous Distance Courses: $50

  

Cancellation Policy

EXCEL School of Real Estate reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any course as necessary.

  • If a course is canceled by the School, a full refund will be issued.
  • If a course is rescheduled prior to the start date, students may elect to attend on the new date or request  a full refund.
  • If a course is rescheduled after it has begun, students may continue with the revised schedule or withdraw and re-enroll in another course at no additional charge.

Unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to inclement weather, instructor illness, or facility issues, may require schedule changes. The School will make reasonable efforts to complete the course; however, changes in dates, location, or instructor may be necessary. Students are expected to comply with all attendance requirements.

  

Refund Policies

Livestream and Classroom Courses

  • With notice provided prior to the start of the course, students may transfer to another course at no  charge or withdraw and receive a full refund.
  • No refund will be issued without notice prior to the start of the course.
  • Students may transfer to a self-paced online course if they no longer qualify for a refund.
  • Students who do not attend a  livestream or classroom course will not receive a refund.
  • With notice, students may withdraw within 24 hours of course commencement and receive a refund.

  

Laptop & Electronic Device Usage Policy

Electronic devices are permitted when used as an instructional aid and not as a distraction. The following policies apply:

  1. Post-Licensing students must  access the North Carolina Real Estate Manual in either printed or digital format during class.
  2. Wi-Fi may be available at certain facilities; however, EXCEL School of Real Estate does not guarantee internet access at any location.
  3. Instructors have full discretion to regulate the use of laptops, cell phones, and electronic devices during live, in-person courses.
  4. Students participating in synchronous or distance-learning courses must have access to a laptop, tablet, or smartphone with a reliable internet connection.
  5. Cell phone use (calls, texts, emails) must occur only during scheduled breaks and outside the classroom. All devices must be silenced during instruction.
  6. Laptops and electronic devices  are strictly prohibited during exams or quizzes unless expressly authorized and proctored.

The School is not responsible for lost or stolen electronic devices.

  

Inclement Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather or a local, state, or national emergency, students should check the EXCEL School of Real Estate websiteor contact customer service for updates.
For synchronous distance-learning courses, time without internet access counts toward attendance requirements. The School will work with impacted students to make up missed instructional time when possible.
